ANZALDUAS, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers intercepted more than $1 million in unreported cash, along with multiple weapons, firearm parts, and ammunition, during a single outbound inspection earlier this month at the Hidalgo Port of Entry.

The bust occurred on October 8, when CBP officers at the Anzalduas International Bridge stopped a 24-year-old U.S. citizen driving a Chevy Silverado for a routine outbound inspection. A search uncovered $1,033,500 in unreported U.S. currency and a multiple of weapons and ammunition concealed within the vehicle.

“Our frontline CBP officers maintain a constant state of vigilance and their utilization of inspection skills, experience, and technology led to this significant outbound currency and weapons seizure,” said Carlos Rodriguez, Port Director for the Hidalgo Port of Entry. “Seizures of unreported bulk currency, often proceeds from illicit activity, and weapons deprive cartels of profits and the ability to inflict further harm on others.”

CBP seized the money, firearms, ammunition, and the truck.
