PHOENIX — A suspect was arrested in connection with a road rage shooting that occurred Saturday night in Peoria, authorities said.
According to the Peoria Police Department, 20-year-old Rudy Sanchez Jr. was taken into custody on Wednesday.
Police said that the shooting took place near State Route 101 and Peoria Avenue around 7:10 p.m.
How did police connect Sanchez Jr. to the road rage shooting in Peoria?
According to Peoria police, detectives used “advanced” police technology and investigative resources to identify the vehicle involved and develop a lead on Sanchez Jr. as the driver involved.
Police said that during Sanchez’s interview he said the victim in the shooting had cut him off in traffic and he shot her because he felt she “disrespected” him.
Sanchez Jr. has been booked into Maricopa County Jail and reportedly faces multiple felony charges.
According to Peoria police, Sanchez Jr. is being held on a $250,000 bond.
Police advised Arizonans not to engage if ever confronted with aggressive driving or verbal harassment, stay in their vehicle and to contact police if they feel threatened.
