The victim, a 46-year-old from Kingsland, reportedly lost control of his motorcycle and hit a tractor trailer.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man from Kingsland is dead after crashing his motorcycle on U.S. 1 in northwest Jacksonville Friday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol report says the 46-year-old had been heading northbound in an outside lane at around 10:34 a.m. before stopping at a red light at Trout River Boulevard. When the light turned green, FHP said he accelerated forward, but lost control of the motorcycle and entered the inside lane. That’s where he collided with the side of a trailer and was thrown from the bike. FHP said he was taken to a hospital, but later died from his injuries.
The driver of the tractor trailer, a man from North Carolina, was uninjured.
