Reward offered for help in Canada Lynx death investigation

  • October 18, 2025

PERHAM, Maine (WABI) – Officials are seeking the public’s help in finding more information about the death of a Canada Lynx in Aroostook County.

The Maine Department of Fisheries and Wildlife says Maine Operation Game Thief, in cooperation with the Maine Warden Service, is offering a $3,000 reward.

Authorities say the animal was shot and killed along Mouse Island Road in Perham Wednesday.

The Canada Lynx is a federally protected species and it is a federal offense to kill them, officials say.

If you have information regarding the killing of this animal, you can call Operation Game Thief at 1-800-ALERT-US or go online to maineogt.org.
