TERRELL HILLS, Texas — The wife of Joe Straus III, former speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, was found safely on Friday, putting an end to an intense search.
The Terrell Hills Police Department confirmed Friday afternoon, 64-year-old Julie Straus was located in the in the 500 block of Terrell Road. Officials said Straus last seen just after 6:30 p.m. Thursday at a home off Geneseo Road near Broadway.
Joe Straus III was the speaker of the Texas House of Representatives from 2009 to 2019. The current Texas Speaker of the House, Dustin Burrows, took to social media to lend his support.
The Terrell Hills Police Department thanked officers, assisting agencies and the community for their efforts.
“We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who assisted in this matter. Your support was invaluable in bringing her home safely,” the department said in a statement.
