FORT WORTH, Texas — TCU’s 21-point second quarter and plus-three turnover margin lifted the Horned Frogs past Baylor football 42-36, on Saturday afternoon at Amon G. Carter Stadium. 
 
Baylor (4-3, 2-2 Big 12 Conference) saw an early lead erased by a 21-point second quarter from the Horned Frogs, who took over following a BU fumble on its own 17-yard line to fuel the second stanza and run past the Bears. A TD drive to open the third quarter pushed the lead to 18. 
 
As the teams battled over two hours of lightning delays over the course of three stoppages, the Bears managed to fight back to get within a possession in the closing seconds. 
 
The Bears returned a fumble for a TD with 3:08 left in the fourth, and converted a two-point conversion, to cut the lead to 42-29, and after a 35-yard TD strike from Sawyer Robertson to Kole Wilson, the Bears narrowed the margin in 42-36. 
 
Jacob Redding fell on an onside kick to give the Bears a final chance at it, owning the ball at the TCU 48-yard line. A holding call pushed the Bears back to their own 42-yard line and Robertson was picked off on the ensuing play, allowing TCU to kneel down for the win. 
 
The loss snapped Baylor’s five-game road winning streak, dating back to 2024. It was BU’s fourth loss in the last 14 games and its second loss in the last 10 conference games. The game marked the fourth time in the last five meetings that the result came down to a one-score margin. 
 
The Bears won last year in Waco on a walk-off field goal, a feat accomplished by TCU in 2022. Six times in the last eight meetings the rivalry game, played for the 121st time on Saturday, came down to a single-score margin. 
 
TCU (5-2, 2-2 Big 12) saw QB Josh Hoover throw for three TDs on 22-of-31 passing in a matchup of the nation’s top two quarterbacks in terms of passing yards and passing TDs. Kevorian Barnes rushed 25 times for 106 yards and two TD and Jordan Dwyer caught seven balls for 111 yards and a score. Kaleb Elarms-Orr had 16 tackles and Nandi Obiazor, matched up opposite Trigg for most of the game, finished with 11 stops and an interception. 
 
Robertson threw for 318 yards on 25-of-52 passing with two TDs and a career-high three interceptions. Freshman running back Michael Turner toted it 12 times for 68 yards, both career highs, and freshman Caden Knighten added 10 rushes for 42 yards. 
 
Baylor WR Josh Cameron had eight catches for 86 yards, Ashtyn Hawkins had seven grabs for 95 yards and Michael Trigg had three catches on a team-high 13 targets, for 56 yards. Wilson had three catches for 53 yards and a score. Sophomore WR Jadon Porter, a native of Lorena, Texas, hauled in an 18-yard TD grab, the first of his career. 
 
Thomas led the charge for the defense with eight tackles and half a stop for a loss. Redding added a career-high eight tackles and Devyn Bobby had seven stops. 
 
The Bears totaled 439 yards of total offense to TCU’s 427. BU had 121 yards rushing and 318 yards in the air, while TCU rushed for 196 yards and threw for 231. 
 
The Bears will return to action at No. 24/24 Cincinnati on Saturday in the Queen City. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. CT and the game will be televised live on ESPN2 or ESPNU, and the Baylor Sports Media Network. 
 
After the teams traded consecutive stops to open, the Bears got on the board first with a 13-play, 92-yard drive that was finished by a one-yard TD run from Washington. 
 
TCU immediately responded with a 12-play, 75-yard drive of its own to even the game at 7-7 after Hoover found DJ Rogers for an eight-yard TD. 
 
A fumble by the Bears on their own 17-yard line led to two furious rushes from Barnes, who punched it in from five-yard out to give TCU a 14-7 led with just over six minutes left in the first half. 
 
The Bears cut the lead to 14-10 with a 42-yard field goal from Connor Hawkins, which completed an 11-play, 47-yard drive with 2:04 left in the first half. 
 
TCU used a 77-yard drive in 1:47 to take a 21-10 lead into the half, using a Hoover throw to Jordan Dwyer. 
 
The Frogs held a 231-160 advantage in yards at the half, throwing for 151 and rushing for 80 yards. BU had 160 yards of total offense, including 105 in the air. 
 
TCU opened up a 28-10 lead in the opening minutes of the second half with a pass from Hoover to Ka’Morreun Pimpton. 
 
A five-minute drive for the Bears ensued, with Robertson finding Jadon Porter for his first career TD catch from 18 yards out, and a two-point conversion from Robertson to Cameron, cutting the lead to 28-18 with 6:40 left in the third. 
 
After a BU stop, the Bears narrowed the lead to one score at 28-21 with a 41-yard field goal from Hawkins with 14:55 left in regulation, completing a 58-yard drive. 
 
A 65-yard rush by Trent Battle put the Frogs up 34-21 with 13:46 left. 
 
The lead grew to 42-21 after a Barnes TD rush from 14 yards out. 
 
Thomas scooped up a fumble with 3:08 left in the game and rumbled 24 yards for a TD to cut the lead to 42-29, following a Robertson two-point conversion run. 
 
Wilson’s 35-yard TD grab completed a 95-yard drive with 30 seconds remaining.
