Chicanos Por La Causa believes everyone should have access to essential health care services. Like CPLC, Valleywise Health is on the front lines of that fight, providing culturally competent care to diverse communities in Maricopa County.

As a longtime and trusted friend of CPLC and our community, Valleywise is the safety net that operates the state’s largest HIV clinic, the Refugee Women’s Health Clinic and so many more services.

Unfortunately, this crucial work is being threatened by an aging infrastructure that makes it harder for Valleywise to provide health care access for all, especially as demand for services continues to increase.

Already facing additional barriers to health care, the Latino community will be disproportionately impacted unless this challenge is addressed. That’s why we must pass Proposition 409 — to make a powerful investment in community health care and its future.

Prop 409 will rebuild community health centers in underserved areas, making it easier for working families to get primary and pediatric care. By funding a new, modern hospital, Prop 409 will directly confront the mental health crisis, which also disproportionately impacts marginalized communities. Neighborhood clinics will be improved.

A yes vote on Prop 409 is a big and positive step for our community health by strengthening a proven public institution that serves everyone. CPLC believes the health and well-being of communities should be available to all, regardless of ZIP code or economic status.

We are counting on you to echo that sentiment by mailing in your ballot and voting yes on Prop 409.
