Central Bucks football players show skills at prospect showcase

Football players from all three Central Bucks schools demonstrate their skills for college coaches during prospect showcase in Doylestown

Every team wants to win every game.

And, if you’re competing in any of the PIAA state playoffs, and win your last game, you’re a state champion.

This is easier said than done because only a handful of teams, regardless of sport, are true PIAA championship contenders in a given year. And winning a PIAA title is hard.

However, there are exceptions and La Salle High’s boys’ lacrosse team is one of them.

La Salle always one of PIAA’s top lacrosse teams

The Explorers have been so good for so long that it’s expected that they make a long playoff run every season, and that was the case again in 2025.

No, La Salle didn’t win it all this season, but it did reach the PIAA Class 3A semifinals before losing to eventual-PIAA champion Springfield-Delco 9-5 in a game the Explorers led at halftime.

“I’m really proud of this team and what they were able to accomplish,” La Salle first-year head coach Jack Forster said.

“I think we thought we could have gone further, but that didn’t happen. It also doesn’t diminish what this team was able to do. These guys gave everything they had in every game and worked every day to get better and better.”

La Salle named Lacrosse Team of the Year

For reaching the PIAA Class 3A semifinals, and for winning their eighth straight Philadelphia Catholic League title, the Explorers have been named our Courier Times/Intelligencer Team of the Year.

“It was so much fun playing on this team and being able to become such really good friends with all of these guys,” La Salle senior Ryan Vandegrift said.

“We didn’t make it as far as we wanted to because we wanted to win a state title, but we still had a great season that I’ll never forget.”

A year ago, the Explorers reached the PIAA Class 3A game before falling to Radnor. Radnor lost in the state final to Springfield-Delco this season.

“We know that we are always right there with the best teams in the state,” La Salle senior Max Wickersham said.

“That’s a credit to the kind of program that we have and how much each guy gives to help us win.”
