EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — Fall has officially arrived and one local favorite that captures the spirit of the season is the La Union Maze – a family tradition that’s been delighting locals for more than two decades.
This year, La Union Maze is taking things up a notch with a special partnership celebrating Sesame Street’s 56th anniversary. Field Manager/Public Relations, Kristen Dorman, shared the celebration has been both nostalgic and exciting; “People who were coming here when they were kids, also watching Sesame Street, are now bringing their kids to share the maze. It’s super special.”
Walking through the grounds, it’s easy to see why the maze has become a staple. The 13-acre corn maze challenges visitors to find their way through winding paths while a 20-acre pumpkin patch offers the perfect spot to pick that picture-perfect pumpkin. Beyond the maze, guests can explore more than 20 different type of attractions, including a charming mini flower maze, animal viewing areas, culvert roll, and the crowd favorite jumping pillows.
The Haunted Pallet Maze promises frights every Friday and Saturday night throughout October, while the season wraps up with a spectacular fireworks display on November 1st and “Bring Your Dog to the Maze” day the following Sunday. And if that’s not enough, visitors can witness the thrilling Pumpkin Smash, where the largest pumpkins left on the field are dropped from a crane – a crowd pleaser that’s become a fall finale tradition.
For Kristen and her team, putting together the maze each year is a true “labor of love.” “It’s all about seeing families grow and friends get to come and make those super special fall memories” Dorman said. “Watching people get to do that each year – is absolutely what makes it worth it.”
