The John Deere Classic begins on Thursday as the PGA Tour rolls into Silvis, Illinois.
This week at the John Deere Classic represents a real chance for some of the unheralded names on the PGA Tour to get their careers off and running.
Whilst the big names have skipped this week in preparation for the Scottish and British Opens, numerous tour pros are at TPC Deere Run looking for what would be a big victory.
Last year, Hayden Springer shot a 59 during the John Deere Classic, so the course is definitely there for the taking.
It’s worth remembering as well that only twice since 2014 has a score worse than 20-under par won the event.
The John Deere Classic is always a really fun event to watch, and now there is a potentially very exciting story to keep an eye out for.

Herron Senior, now 55, won four times on the PGA Tour, and it looks like his son could be headed in the same direction.
The University of New Mexico alum will now make his first PGA Tour start in Silvis, Illinois, on Thursday, after shooting a six-under par 66 at Pinnacle Country Club and subsequently emerging victorious from a three-man play-off.
Now Herron has a huge, and very much unexpected, opportunity to really kickstart his golfing career.
Hopefully he takes full advantage of that.
Carson Herron used to watch his father, Tim, play the John Deere Classic
Herron Junior spoke to reporters after he qualified for the upcoming PGA Tour event.
And he told a great story about how he used to travel from Minnesota to watch his dad play at TPC Deere Run back in the day, as quoted by the ABQ Journal.
He said: “It was super fun. It was only a five-and-a-half hour drive from home, and I’d always come and watch him play. He had some success there, and he really liked it … It was exciting just to come play here and see if I could make it.”
What a story it would be if Herron Junior went on to play well and contend at the John Deere Classic this week, or who knows, even win it!
The youngster, who is fresh out of college, certainly has the talent to achieve big things in the game of golf.
However, he wouldn’t have thought that he would be given this kind of opportunity so soon after leaving the University of New Mexico.
