How I-77 impacted Tuscarawas County

NEW PHILADELPHIA − Jon Baker will give a presentation on how the river was moved to make way for Interstate 77, as well as the changes and impact the freeway had on the Tuscarawas Valley in the 1960s.

Adoption hearing is open to the public

NEW PHILADELPHIA − Tuscarawas County Probate Court and Tuscarawas County Job & Family Services will host an event to celebrate children and families coming together through foster care adoption. It starts at 9 a.m. Nov. 21, when Probate Court Judge Adam W. Wilgus presides over an adoption that will be open to the public to observe.

In 2024, 28 of the 52 adoptions filed in Tuscarawas County Probate Court were for children involved in the foster care system through Family Services. Nine Family Services adoptions were finalized through August 2025. There are 103 children in foster care in the county, and 32 family foster homes that are licensed by Family Services.

Gun club dinner and shoot scheduled

DOVER − The Zoar Road Gun Club will host an all-you-can-eat fish and French fry dinner at 6 p.m. Nov. 8. It will also host the Lucky X Meat Shoot at 9 a.m. Nov. 9. The club is located at 5681 Dover Zoar Rd NE.

Strasburg Boy Scout fundraiser

STRASBURG − St. John United Church of Christ will host a taco bar fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 9. The cost is a donation and proceeds will be used for annual membership fees of the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in Strasburg. Donations can be directed to Boy Scout Troop 72 by mail at PO Box 198, Strasburg or by calling Michele Randolph at 330-878-5393.

Children can feed live ducks during Storytime

TUSCARAWAS − Duck Storytime with live ducks is scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 4, at the Tusky Branch Library, to offer library visitors the opportunity to feed the ducks and listen to children’s stories about ducks. Registration is required and can be made by visiting tusclibrary.org. or calling 740-922-2748. The branch is located at 289 S. Main St.
