Initial Reactions and Observations

  • Vincent Kompany, take a bow. Bayern were going nowhere in the second half, but his well executed substitutions and adjustments, along with a bit of patience, got Bayern over the line against a Gladbach team whose goal was under lockdown.
  • Michael Olise, Raphael Guerreiro, and Serge Gnabry were the difference makers today.
  • Lennart Karl scored a magnificent goal as a follow up to his goal against Club Brugge. This kid is special.
  • Bayern now match AC Milan’s 1992/93 record for best start to a season.

That’s all, folks! Huge shoutout to everyone who watched with us today. Next week Bayern plays Koln in the Pokal and then Leverkusen in the league. Catch you then!

Bayern Munich traveled to Borussia Mönchengladbach for a Bundesliga tilt featuring the league first-place and last-place teams.

The game went as expected — especially after Gladbach picked up an early red card, which completely shifted the momentum into Bayern Munich’s favor.

It was a daunting task to ask Gladbach to hold strong for over 70 minutes and eventually Die Fohlen just broke down. Ultimately, Bayern Munich walked away with a 3-0 victory over Gladbach.

Let’s get into all on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Postgame Show:

  • A look at Bayern Munich’s starting XI selections…who stood out, who struggled, and more.
  • A rundown of the scoring and substitutions as we walk through the flow of the match.
  • Some final takeaways on the match.

OFFICIAL: Kick off will start 15 minutes late

Lineups are out! Vincent Kompany rolls out a heavily rotated squad which features no Lennart Karl, Tom Bischof at left back, the return of Kim Min-jae…

…and a team stuck in traffic:

Bayern Munich continue their dominant run in both the Bundesliga and Europe, the latest of which being a 4-0 blowout of Belgian side Club Brugge. They continue their quest in the league, with an away trip to Borussia Mönchengladbach. The Foals are rooted to the foot of the league and, as Chuck mentioned in the stream’s description, it’s a total dumpster fire at that club. At least a dumpster fire has a, well, fire inside it which came from a spark, so will Gladbach have either of those at all?

With the joint-lowest goal tally in the Bundesliga (six measly goals) and a defence leakier than an overflowing dam, Gladbach are about to get a real dreizehn down because Bayern aren’t going to mess about. You know? Dressing down, but it’s spelled dreizehn because Bayern might win a 13th straight match, you know?

Anyways, the Rekordmeister Reds are ready to rumble, and they should see off the floundering foals free of fuss.

Prediction: Bayern wins 5-0
