PHOENIX — A man is in the hospital after a shooting in west Phoenix on Saturday morning, authorities said.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, officers responded to the area of 48th Avenue and McDowell Road for reports of a shooting around 5:39 a.m.

When police arrived on scene, they reportedly found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Police said the man was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
