Arlington-based D.R. Horton, the nation’s largest homebuilder, will report third-quarter results on Thursday amid an increasingly volatile market for new houses, with interest rates, tariffs and a fickle supply and demand situation continuing to make owning a home tricky.
Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp. also reports earnings, along with North Texas headquartered ATI Inc., Irving-based Flowserve and major national companies such as Visa, UnitedHealth Group and UPS.

The U.S. Federal Reserve’s Federal Open Market Committee will announce the result of its vote on the Fed Funds Interest Rate, the influential benchmark that influences everything from home loans to commercial construction. The committee is widely expected to lower rates, but by how much is the question.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics is scheduled to release September metropolitan area employment numbers on Wednesday, but the government shutdown is likely to cancel that.
