PHILADELPHIA — Cam Skattebo’s brilliant rookie season just took a turn for the worse.

In fact, his season could be over.

Skattebo suffered a dislocated right ankle midway through the second quarter Sunday against the Eagles and was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation, the Giants announced.

Giants teammates dropped to a knee, and several turned their backs to avoid the gruesome scene.

Skattebo left the field on a cart with his ankle in an air cast and received a big ovation from the notoriously unfriendly Eagles crowd, which is a sign that the hard-running running back has earned their respect. He scored his team-leading seventh touchdown earlier in the game on an 18-yard pass from Jaxson Dart.

Tyrone Tracy Jr. – the former starting running back supplanted by Skattebo and now forced into a bigger role again – was with Skattebo the longest to show his support. Skattebo pointed as the cart drove off to acknowledge the support.
