A kitten was rescued by firefighters from an apartment fire in a Chicago suburb Saturday morning.
Firefighters in Orland Park responded to an apartment fire Saturday morning on the 15200 block of Al Camino Terrace.
Smoke could be seen coming from the eaves of the building, authorities said. A unit on the building’s northwest corner caught fire and “serious damage” was done to the kitchen area before it was extinguished by Orland Fire Protection District firefighters.
No people were injured, authorities said. However, a small kitten that was in the apartment needed help breathing after it was rescued by firefighters.
Firefighters gave the kitten oxygen though a mask that covered the small animal’s entire head.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, authorities said.
