Back in 1996, about five years into her eight-season run as mom and wife Jill Taylor on the popular 1990s sitcom Home Improvement, Patricia Richardson picked up a home in L.A.’s Brentwood neighborhood, just south of Sunset Boulevard. Fast-forward nearly three decades later, and the Cape Cod-inspired estate has returned to the market for nearly $10 million. David Yadegaran and Shaun Alan Lee of Carolwood Estates hold the listing.

Ground zero for two family weddings and several SAG-AFTRA events during the Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated actress’s ownership, the light gray and white-trimmed structure is tucked away behind 20-foot privacy hedges and double gates and fronted by a semi-circular driveway. Originally built in the 1930s, the updated residence offers a total of seven bedrooms and nine baths in roughly 6,600 square feet.

A columned portico entryway opens into a chandelier-topped foyer leading to formal living and dining rooms flaunting the original hardwood floors. A vaulted family room with a stone fireplace and French doors spilling outside connects to the rustic kitchen, which is outfitted with a butcher block island, open shelving, stainless appliances, and a breakfast banquette. The main-level primary suite features a fireplace, built-in cabinetry, a walk-in closet, and a lofty bath sporting a soaking tub encased within cobalt blue tile.

Another en suite bedroom completes the first floor, while two more upstairs bedrooms share a bath. The picturesque grounds tend to steal the show here, though. Dotted with mature redwood trees and meandering stone pathways, they include several alfresco lounging and dining terraces surrounded by a dark-bottom pool with a spillover spa, a grotto-style bar beneath a waterfall, and a barbecue station flanked by raised flower beds.

Rounding it all off is a two-bedroom, two-bath guesthouse that comes with its own living and dining areas and a full kitchen. There’s also a private space with a bath and walk-in closet above the three-car garage that could be used as a gym, an office, or staff quarters.

Richardson, who also starred in Lifetime’s medical drama Strong Medicine and had recurring guest roles on The West Wing and Grey’s Anatomy, has decided to downsize into a condo in the L.A. area now that her three children are grown, according to The Real Deal.
