FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AZFamily) — A mama bear and her two cubs are back in the wild after being rescued from a tree at a Flagstaff elementary school.
The bears were spotted roaming nearby neighborhoods in the days leading up to the recovery on Friday. Arizona Game and Fish say they were likely drawn in by the abundance of apple trees in the area.
When the three bears climbed a tree on the grounds of an elementary school, Game and Fish reached out to APS for help with the rescue.
When APS crews arrived, the mama bear had already been removed from the tree. APS employee Jim Baldocchi and Game and Fish officer Colby Walton carefully used the ladder bucket to lower the cubs down and reunite them with their mother.

All three bears are doing well! Mom, who is between four and seven, and her healthy cubs have since been relocated.
The school day continued uninterrupted, but students were advised to stay indoors while the rescue was underway.
