Halloween is on Friday, followed by Dia de los Muertos on Saturday and Sunday. There’s nothing scarier than going into the weekend without some holiday plans, and Houston Public Media has you covered.

Here are six ways to spend the weekend, with or without your best costume.

Houston Arboretum Sip and Stroll. For one night only, the Houston Arboretum is hosting a spooky twilight hike along its trails. From 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, your haunted walk will include two glasses of wine or a beer from Saint Arnold Brewing Company, plus something to munch on. Tickets are $45 for non-members, and costumes are encouraged.

Halloween at the BOO!seum. Children’s Museum Houston has Halloween fun lined up, with extra fun on Thursday, Oct. 30 and Friday, Oct. 31. You can trick-or-treat at the museum, see some spooky science and jam to some Halloween classics. The best part is you can save money by showing up in costume and knocking $2 off admission.

Houston Scream Fest. If you’re looking for a haunted house, why not go to four in one night? Houston’s Scream Fest is back with the most haunted event of the season, and it’s not for the faint of heart. With live music, a carnival-style midway and free drinks, Scream Fest is among the best scares in Houston.

Megan Thee Stallion’s Hottieween. Houston-based rapper Megan Thee Stallion is back for another Hottieween this October. Tickets are sold out, but you can join the waitlist online to get in on this Friday night Halloween party in Humble for ages 21 and older. And Megan herself said it, costumes are mandatory.

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at River Oaks Theater. This year, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” celebrates its 50th anniversary. What better way to celebrate than seeing a midnight showing at the River Oaks Theater on Halloween night? The classic, campy, over-the-top musical showing will include a shadow cast performance by the Royal Mystic Order of CHAOS. And if you miss Friday’s showing, you can catch another showing on Saturday at midnight.

Houston Dia de los Muertos Parade. If you’re looking for more excitement after Halloween, the fifth annual Dia de los Muertos festival and parade are on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Sam Houston Park. The parade starts at 7 p.m., but there’s a lot to do all afternoon and evening from 4-11 p.m.
