Nonprofit hosts Native American arts performance for Phoenix-area students

  • October 30, 2025

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Exposing children to new arts and cultures is the goal of one Valley nonprofit, and that is Something Good!

Over 100 students in grades K-6 from Title I schools across the Valley got to check out their first Native American song-and-dance performance. Students piled into the Madison Center of the Arts to see a world-renowned performance from Shelley Morningsong and Fabian Fontenelle.

The nonprofit Act One aims to provide access to the arts for Arizona children and families through field trips, culture passes and virtual reality field trips. This performance was part of the nonprofit’s 2025-26 in-person field trip kickoff.

Through music and dance, kids had a chance to be immersed in Native American stories.

A study from the University of Arkansas showed that students who attended at least three arts-related field trips in a year had higher exam scores, higher course grades and fewer behavioral issues than students who were not given these experiences.

Thank you to Act One for bringing the show on the road and giving students a first-time experience!
