Love it or hate it, few Halloween treats stir up as much emotion as candy corn.

And just in time for National Candy Corn Day (Oct. 30), the National Confectioners Association has revealed how Americans really eat the polarizing tri-colored candy.

According to a new survey, 58% of people believe you should eat the whole piece at once, while 28% start with the narrow white tip and 15% begin with the wider yellow end.

That’s right — the majority of candy corn fans are all-in-one-biters, no nibbling required. But for nearly half the population, the joy is in savoring it layer by layer.

No matter how you eat it, one thing’s for sure: it wouldn’t be Halloween without candy corn.
