Attention, Stranger Things fans, this is not a drill! Netflix dropped the official full-length trailer for the final season on Thursday, previewing the gang’s final battle with Vecna.

This season, the crew faces a massive challenge as Vecna unleashes new nightmares against them while Hawkins is under military quarantine.

“They’re not experiencing normal life. Nothing in Hawkins is normal anymore … their movement is restricted, and there are Big Brother cameras everywhere,” the show’s cocreator Matt Duffer told Tudum. “So not only are they active — their everyday, normal lives are anything but.”

The stakes have been turned upside down for the fifth and final season. Watch the trailer here:

Show cocreator Ross Duffer told Tudum, “I think what’s unique about this season is that it starts a little bit in chaos because our heroes ultimately lost at the end of Season 4.” He added that “we usually set up their normal life and how they’re going about school, and then we introduce the supernatural element. But in this case, this season is sprinting from the start.”

The final season of Stranger Things will be released on Netflix across three premiere dates, which coincide with the holidays.

  1. Nov. 26: Volume 1, episodes 501-504

  2. Dec. 26: Volume 2, episodes 505-507

  3. Dec. 31: Finale, episode 508

The streaming service previously announced that the two-hour finale titled “The Rightside Up” will also be released on New Year’s Eve in over 350 theaters in the U.S. and Canada. Netflix said it would announce more information on how fans can attend the theater screenings, as well as specific locations, later this year.

Here’s the official synopsis of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things: “The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”
