Phoenix Police detectives are investigating a north Valley collision that left an 84-year-old man dead Thursday night, according to a release.

Officers responded to the area of 32nd Street and Campo Bello Drive regarding collision involving a pedestrian about 7:35 p.m. Oct. 30.  According to the release, when officers arrived, they located the adult male pedestrian, later identified as Edward Pickles, with serious injuries.

Pickles was transported to a nearby hospital, but he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The vehicle involved remained on scene after the collision, according to the release.

The preliminary investigation indicates Pickles was crossing 32nd Street, mid-block, when he was struck by the vehicle involved, the release said.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in this collision at this time. Final charging decisions will be made once the accident reconstruction process is complete. Additional details about the collision remain part of the ongoing investigation.
