PHOENIX — A firefighter was injured while responding to a fire that broke out at a Buckeye Valley residence on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

First responders with the Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (AFMA) arrived at the scene of a double-wide mobile home fire shortly before 1:30 p.m.

They found flames burning through the collapsed roof, according to the AFMA.

The AFMA had six units on scene. The Buckeye Fire and Medical Department also arrived on the scene to provide aid.

One patient suffered smoke inhalation but declined treatment and transport to a hospital.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized.

The homeowners, an elderly couple, will be displaced.
