Former England midfielder Paul Scholes has thrown his full backing behind one Manchester United legend ahead of George Best in his ultimate Red Devils XI.

George Best is widely regarded as one of the best Manchester United players of all time and immortalised his footballing legacy with the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

One of United’s famed No 7s, the Northern Irishman came through the United youth academy and successfully climbed into the Red Devils first-team squad.

Best lifted two First Division titles with the Red Devils and also captured the European Cup in 1968 under legendary former United manager Sir Matt Busby.

The former United star’s exploits at club level earned Best the prestigious Ballon d’Or award after the Red Devils’ European Cup final triumph over Benfica.

Best, who passed away in 2005 at the age of 59, became part of United’s famed ‘Holy Trinity’ alongside fellow club legends Sir Bobby Charlton and Denis Law.

Paul Scholes followed in the same footsteps as George Best by going through the ranks of the Manchester United youth academy before breaking into the first team.

Joining the 50-year-old former United midfielder in the Red Devils’ youth set-up was none other than Sir David Beckham, who enjoyed a prolific spell at Old Trafford.

Both Scholes and Sir David Beckham are key members of United’s famed ‘Class of ‘92’ who became real stars under iconic former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Scholes appeared on Icons’ TikTok account and the United legend was asked to name his ultimate United XI, with Beckham going up against Best in the picks.

When it came to the right winger role, Scholes could not overlook the impact of former United teammate Beckham and picked him ahead of Red Devils icon Best.
