A man was attacked and threatened with a gun in front of his child during an armed robbery in broad daylight on Halloween in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood.

Around 3:16 p.m. Friday, a 42-year-old man was approached by three men on the 2600 block of South Emerald Avenue. One of the men pulled out a gun and pointed it at the 42-year-old man, police said.

As the 42-year-old man attempted to leave, one of the suspects hit him in the face with the gun and demanded he give them his belongings, police said.

The three suspects then fled with the man’s belongings in his vehicle, that was later recovered on the 300 block of South Maplewood.

The man’s child was with him when the robbery occurred, according to Cook County Crime Stoppers.

No suspects are in custody, police said.

Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to their arrest.

“This was a brazen attack that took place in broad daylight and endangered both an adult and a child. A child who should have been excited to go trick-or-treating, but instead witnessed the dad being robbed,” Paul Rutherford, Executive Director of Cook County Crime Stoppers, said in a statement. “We’re asking the community to do the right thing. If you know something, take a step toward crime and call us or the police. Your information could help bring justice to the victims and make our neighborhoods safer.”

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
