With the way the Boston Celtics roster is constructed at present for the 2025-26 NBA regular season, a lot of the players coming off the bench are looking at a bit of uncertainty in terms of when they will see playing time. Players like Chris Boucher, Baylor Scheierman, Jordan Walsh, Xavier Tillman Sr., and even new fan favorites Hugo Gonzalez and Josh Minott have seen nights where they ride the pine due to an unfortunate matchup.
But Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla, one constant remains steady when it comes to creating those players to create their own case for playing time each contest that Boston plays.

“I think at the end of the day, regardless if it’s tonight, or if it’s one minute, or if it’s three minutes, they just have to continue to put great possessions together of the type of way that we want to play on the offensive end, and the execution and the effort that we have to play defensively.” he explained after the Celtics 128-101 loss to the Houston Rockets on Saturday (Nov. 1) night.
So you take Baylor,” he continued, “(who) obviously has gotten better and better. Hit some good possessions last night against Maxey, and then you’re able to see how he played tonight.”

“I thought Jordan (Walsh), even though he’s only hit a minute and a half in the New Orleans (Pelicans) game and a minute and a half in the Cleveland (Cavaliers) game, played really well tonight,” said Mazzulla.

“He did some good things, so just keep putting forth possessions so that we can continue to develop the way we want to play on both ends of the floor.”
