Houston’s annual “Salutes American Heroes” parade will go on Nov. 11 with a 10 a.m. ceremony and 11:30 a.m. parade honoring more than 250,000 Texas veterans.

HOUSTON — The city of Houston says its annual “Salutes American Heroes” Veterans Day Parade will go on as planned — even with the federal government shutdown still in effect.

City officials confirmed the parade and celebration will take place next Tuesday, November 11, bringing together veterans, families, and community members to honor those who have served.

The day’s events will begin with a ceremony at 10 a.m., followed by the parade at 11:30 a.m. through downtown Houston.

Organizers say the celebration will pay tribute to the more than 250,000 veterans who call Texas home, featuring local veteran organizations, ROTC units, and marching bands lined up along the parade route to celebrate their service.

This year’s festivities continue a long Houston tradition of honoring American heroes — and city leaders hope the event will provide a moment of unity and gratitude despite ongoing national challenges.
