Houston police investigate after a man was shot in the chest at a northeast apartment complex.

HOUSTON — Houston police are investigating after a man was shot in the chest Monday night at an apartment complex in northeast Houston.

Lt. J.P. Horelica with HPD said officers were called to Bennington Street near Homestead Road shortly before 8 p.m. for reports of a shooting. When they got there, they found a man who appeared to be in his 20s being treated by HFD.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital. His condition is unknown.

Investigators said the man was found in the parking lot of the complex, though it’s unclear exactly where the shooting happened.

“We have units reviewing video and talking to witnesses, but we have really no information on what exactly occurred,” Horelica said.

Police said they do have some surveillance footage and are looking for more.

This is a developing story. We’ll add more details as we learn them.
