A woman injured during an altercation at a convenience store in Hollywood died Wednesday, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement.
LAPD officers responded to the 7-Eleven store located on the 5700 block of Melrose Avenue on June 24 at around 2:15 p.m. According to preliminary information, two women were in a verbal altercation that later turned physical.
When police arrived, a woman believed to be in her 20s was found unconscious on the floor of the store, LAPD said.
The victim, later identified as Jessica McLaughlin, was taken to a hospital. She was in critical condition and then pronounced dead on Wednesday.
According to LAPD, investigators have obtained video evidence of the incident but are not releasing it at this time.
The LA County Medical Examiner’s Office is also investigating the incident and is working to determine the victim’s cause and manner of death.
