An unusual piebald deer has been spotted in the vicinity of Gann Store Road in Hixson.

A motorist said the young deer crossed the road on Gann Store Road near Greenway Farm. The motorist said, “I thought it was a goat at first until I saw several other deer with it. I pulled into some people’s driveway to get pictures. They have put out corn to feed the deer.”

A piebald deer is described as a half albino deer, which has some brown pigment, brown eyes and often has some deformities like a shortened leg, or curved spine, or crooked nose.

A piebald is a rarity, occurring in less than one percent of the deer population.
