The San Francisco Giants are coming off another season hovering around .500. They have now missed the postseason for the last four seasons, and the fanbase is starting to make its voice heard.

After the season, the club decided to part ways with manager Bob Melvin and has now introduced Tony Vitello as their newest skipper. He will be tasked with getting this team into the postseason for the first time since the 2021 season.

To do this, the club will have to make some upgrades. Playing in a division like the NL West, they need all the help they can get.

The Giants are not at risk of losing any of their star players outside of Justin Verlander, who is aging, and Wilmer Flores. However, to keep up with teams like the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers, they will have to find some free agents or make trades that put them in a better position to win games consistently.

They may not be as busy as other teams this winter, but they surely have their work cut out for them. Former MLB GM Jim Bowden speaks on what he believes the Giants will focus on during the offseason.

“The Giants will focus on improving their rotation and bullpen, so don’t be surprised if they make a strong push for one of the top starting pitchers in the market from the group of Framber Valdez, Dylan Cease, Michael King, Shota Imanaga, and Ranger Suarez,” said Bowden.

“I think they need one more bat to go with Willy Adames, Rafael Devers, Matt Chapman, Heliot Ramos, Jung Hoo Lee, and rookie Bryce Eldridge.”

Bowden believes the biggest priority will be reinforcing the starting rotation and bullpen. However, he also suggests the club could go after another bat to help stabilize the offense. They could make an upgrade at right field, and could be in the mix to sign someone like Kyle Tucker or Cody Bellinger if they really want to make a splash.
