A man has been arrested for a shooting that happened on a Trinity Railway Express train headed to the Fort Worth Central Station on Thursday morning, police said.

Fort Worth police were contacted by TRE about 11 a.m. that a man on the train with a firearm was causing a disturbance, according to officer Tracy Carte, a spokesperson for the Fort Worth police.

Police were advised the train would arrive at the station at 1001 Jones St. and that a shooting had occurred, according to Carte.

When officers arrived, they located a man shot in the leg. He was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in stable but potentially life-threatening condition, according to Carte.

The man who shot the victim had also fired several other rounds while on the train. The man, whom police did not identify, was taken into custody and also transported to John Peter Smith Hospital at his request, according to Catre.

All westbound TEXRail trains will discontinue service at the Northside Station due to police activity, Trinity Metro said in a social media post shared to X. Fort Worth T&P and Central Station passengers will need to ride the bus to Northside Station, officials said.
