Asia Society Texas brings back its popular Night Market, inspired by the lively street markets of East and Southeast Asia. The festival celebrates Houston’s Asian and Asian American communities with food, art, shopping and cultural activities. Visitors can enjoy free outdoor fun including local vendors, a beer garden, dance performances, Japanese games, anime screenings and karaoke. Ticketed indoor experiences offer after-hours exhibition access, an artists’ alley, a manga café, mahjong and sumo wrestling demonstrations.

Bayou City Duck Race

East River and the American Festival for the Arts present the seventh annual Bayou City Duck Race, a family-friendly event benefiting music education in Houston. Festivities begin at 10 a.m., with the duck launch set for 10:45 a.m. Spectators can watch 5,000 rubber ducks race along Buffalo Bayou for prizes awarded to the top finishers and a few surprise “lucky duck” winners. Each duck adoption costs $5, with proceeds supporting AFA’s Play It Forward Fund, which helps young musicians access music programs.

The Fall Festival, “Myths and Leyendas: Mujeres,” features food, live music, dance performances, short films, and art-making activities. In the Cullen Sculpture Garden, visitors can explore new large-scale works by Houston Latinx artists Laura Lopez Cano, Angela Corson, Pedro Gutierrez-Zamora, Sandra de la Rosa, Jasmine Zelaya, and the trio Victoria Armenta, Salima Bowaniya, and Bailey Serrano.
