Houston launches multi-agency DWI crackdown ahead of Fourth of July weekend

Mayor John Whitmire and Houston Police Chief J. Noe Diaz Jr. announced a multi-agency partnership aimed at preventing impaired driving during the busy Fourth of July weekend.

The initiative will focus on reducing alcohol and drug-related crashes through increased enforcement and public education.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are joining forces for the effort, including the Houston Police Department, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, METRO Police, Bellaire Police, South Houston Police, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and Harris County Constables from Precincts 1, 4, and 5.

As Houstonians prepare to celebrate the holiday, city officials are urging the public to plan ahead and make safe choices.
