It’s like history repeating itself in Glasgow, regardless of who is in the Celtic or Rangers dugout.
Last season, Philippe Clement’s Rangers released a statement moaning about officials after Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic won an enthralling League Cup final at Hampden, and now the same has happened over the weekend in the semi-final event.
Celtic dispatched ten-man Rangers in extra time, but since then, Rangers have complained about certain calls that were made by on-field referee Nick Walsh, including the call not to send off Auston Trusty.
Danny Rohl has also weighed in on the complaints, days later, by mentioning the Trusty challenge, but Peter Grant wanted to put him and the Rangers supporters straight.

Billy Dodds was at Hampden, and he had a whinge at Trusty’s tackle at the time, but Grant wanted to pick up on two incidents that are being ‘missed.’
Speaking on Go Radio, the Hoops hero stated that Daizen Maeda’s offside goal shouldn’t have been ruled out, as the camera used by the VAR officials was all wrong.
That’s when he mentioned Derek Cornelius’ tackle early in the first half, and how he was ‘lucky’ to stay on the pitch. On-field ref Walsh booked him for his studs high challenge on Johnny Kenny.
Either way, Grant didn’t hold back, as he blasted Rangers boss Rohl for only talking about the incidents that seemingly affected his side, and how he shouldn’t forget that Celtic were on the receiving end of wrong decisions.
Grant: “I think there have been a lot of things missed out. On the Rangers one, I know they have constantly gone on. There have been a lot of Rangers fans who have given me a really hard time, because they are talking about all the decisions they never got. I say, ‘Well, you are looking through the blue glasses on.’”
Dodds: “I honestly think the referee, Nick Walsh, was one of the best when he first came onto the scene. I think he has regressed. I have seen too many decisions in big games where he isn’t getting them correct. He’s missed a few. Not been consistent. With the Aasgaard situation. To Auston Trusty as well, straight away.”
Grant: “I disagree with the manager, because he is saying there are two sides. I think there are three sides he has to remember. Celtic were there as well. He wants to talk about that. Don’t forget about the offside goal. Don’t forget about Cornelius’ tackle.
“They never even questioned it (Maeda’s offside). When I went back home, I thought they must have debated it. They never even questioned it. If you are going to look at VAR. Look at it correctly, then. If that’s the case, Cornelius is lucky.
“Everyone is talking about Trusty. Well, I will talk about Cornelius. I am Celtic in. Billy Dodds is in the blue corner. I am in the green corner. If Trusty goes. Cornelius goes. Celtic should have got a goal. They never got it.
“Now they shouldn’t get it wrong. If you can’t put cameras in certain areas to see certain things, you are thinking, ‘wow, that’s incredible.’ If you are talking about the Trusty one, and he (Rohl) wants to talk. That’s why I thought Danny Rohl has done brilliantly over the last few days, apart from today.”
