The Houston metro area makes up 2.3% of all international home searches for United States properties — and while that may not sound like a lot, it’s the sixth-highest rate of any metro area in the country, according to data from Realtor.com.

The median Houston home price viewed by those international shoppers during the third quarter of the year was $405,000, 11.7% higher than the typical home viewed by domestic shoppers.

Nationwide, the highest rate of internet traffic from international home shoppers was in Miami at 8.4%, followed by New York at 5.6%, Los Angeles at 4.8% and Orlando, Florida at 2.7%. On average, the homes they viewed were 29.8% more expensive than those of shoppers in the U.S.

Nearly one-third of those international shoppers were from Canada in Q3 — despite the fact that Canadian interest in U.S. real estate declined 4.4% year over year in the wake of Trump’s tariffs on Canadian goods.

Despite that decrease, Canadians still accounted for 34.9% of all international home searches in Houston last quarter.
