Jacksonville prepares for Veterans Day parade downtown. Here’s what to know before you go

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The city of Jacksonville is gearing up for the annual Veterans Day Parade on Tuesday in downtown Jacksonville.

The parade, which will be held on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m., will include senior military officials, active-duty and retired military units, veteran groups, local high school marching bands, decorated floats and much more.

Here’s all that you need to know if you’re planning to attend.

The route for the parade is about 1.11 miles, and it will last roughly two hours.

It will begin on Water Street in front of the Jacksonville Center of Performing Arts and will make a left turn onto Hogan Street.

The parade will continue east on Bay Street until it reaches Lot X.

Things to note:

  • Spectators are encouraged to wear red, white and blue and wave flags to show support

  • Viewing locations include Water, Hogan and Bay streets

  • The show will go on — rain or shine

  • Attendees can also free to bring chairs, blankets, snacks and drinks

Multiple downtown streets will be closed for the parade. All closures will end at 2 p.m. or as soon as the end of the parade exits the closure, whichever comes first.
