We have one stunning semifinal match at the ATP 250 in Metz, and another that’s far more expected. This is the final chance for one of these four men to end their season on a high note. Who will take advantage and make it to Saturday’s final? We predict both matches. Who do you think will win?
ATP Metz Semifinal Predictions
Learner Tien vs Vitaliy Sachko
What a week this has been for Vitaliy Sachko. The 28-year-old Ukrainian has never cracked the Top 150 of the rankings, but he will if he wins this match. He’s up against American teenager Learner Tien, who needs to win this match to secure himself a likely seed at next year’s Australian Open. Sachko has picked up some impressive wins on the way here, starting with his opener against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard. He’s playing slightly better than the American right now, so don’t be surprised if the dream run continues.
Prediction: Sachko in 2
Cameron Norrie vs Lorenzo Sonego
Norrie is doing a great job of finishing matches, but he has to be gassed by now. He’s played three three-setters so far this week, and it’s not like they’ve been against particularly tough opposition. The Italian is probably more talented overall (though Norrie has been slightly better this year), is playing better this tournament, and should be fresher coming into this match. All in all, there’s every reason to think Sonego wins this match relatively easily.
Prediction: Sonego in 2
