PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is in custody after a woman was found dead early Friday morning in south-central Phoenix.
Police were called to the scene around 4 a.m. after it was reported that a man shot and killed a woman inside a home near 21st Avenue and Hadley Street, just north of Buckeye Road.
Officers arrived at the home and placed the man in custody, according to Phoenix Police. The woman was then found dead inside the home.
The man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said, but he has since been released and is being booked into jail. His charges and identity have not yet been provided.
Police have not specified the relationship between the two people.
A large law enforcement presence is in the area Friday morning as the investigation gets underway. Drivers should avoid the area.
