PHOENIX — A woman has died after a stabbing early Friday morning west of downtown Phoenix, according to authorities.
The incident happened in a neighborhood southwest of 19th Avenue and Grant Street around 4 a.m., according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The department said officers responded to a call of a shooting and were told that a man had killed a woman inside his home.
At the scene, officers discovered that the woman had not been shot, but instead suffered multiple stab and cutting injuries. She was declared dead at the scene, according to police.
The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released before being booked into jail, police said.
More information is expected to be released later Friday.
This was the second deadly incident to happen in the city of Phoenix in the past two days, as a 33-year-old woman was shot and killed near 43rd Avenue and Park Place on Thursday afternoon.
