Why the Grammys are missing Beyoncé, Taylor Swift and Adele for the first time since 2003

One reason the Grammys’ top categories include more K-pop, hip-hop, and Latin pop than usual this year?

No Adele, no Beyoncé, no Taylor Swift.

For the first time since the 45th Grammys in 2003, none of those three longtime Grammy faves is nominated for next year’s show, which left more room near the top of the ballot for the likes of Bad Bunny, Rosé, Doechii and the songwriters behind “KPop Demon Hunters.”

To be clear, the Recording Academy is hardly giving the cold shoulder to the pop superstars.

Swift’s blockbuster “The Life of a Showgirl” came out in early October, after the eligibility window for the 68th Grammys had closed.

And Beyoncé hasn’t gotten around to releasing Vol. 3 in the proposed trilogy that’s already given us “Renaissance” and “Cowboy Carter.”

As for Adele, it’s anyone’s guess when she’ll have the follow-up to 2021’s “30.” She’s said she plans to be away for “an incredibly long time” following the conclusion of her hit Las Vegas residency last year.
