JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – When visitors come to the Jacksonville Fair, they are greeted with a wide variety of food choices. Some people even attend the fair just for the food.
Among the classic offerings is chicken on a stick, but there are plenty of newer options making their debut in Jacksonville.
One of the new attractions is the Pancake Kitchen, owned by AMC Foods, which is serving up pancake tacos. Monica Beraquit, the owner, and her staff developed the idea at their last fair stop. One of their new flavors is Reese’s Coco Loco.
“I don’t have food in warmers or sitting out all day. It’s what you get is, you know, whatever you want, made from scratch, cooked to order. That’s our big thing. We put a lot of time, effort, love into everything we do,” Beraquit said.
Another newcomer is Fresh Fruit Candy, which features fruit on a stick dipped in sugar. It creates a hard candy shell, that balances the taste of the fresh fruit.
Visitors can also enjoy the staples.
Many attendees have their go-to foods. Shaquille Elmore said, “A turkey leg” is a must-have when he visits the fair.
Jeffrey Butner added, “You have to get a corn dog and you have to get a funnel cake.”
Kimberly Wooten agreed, saying, “Well, we got to get the turkey leg and then we got to get funnel cake.”
Bill Olson, president and CEO of the Jacksonville Fair, shared his favorites: “I like the corn dog. A good corn dog’s always a go-to for me. The kettle corn, obviously. And then the Amish donut is always a little treat that I get.”
Visitors can enjoy these delicious treats and more at the Jacksonville Fair through November 16.
