Police are reviewing surveillance video and searching for witnesses.
HOUSTON — Two men were fatally shot Thursday evening at an apartment complex in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
Officers came to Windswept Lane and Greenridge Drive around 7:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a man who had been assaulted and injured, Lt. Larry Crowson said at the scene. When officers arrived, they found an adult man in front of the apartment complex who had been shot at least once.
Officers performed CPR on the victim until the Houston Fire Department arrived and transported him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
While working that scene, officers received a report of a second man on a walking path along a nearby bayou. Officers found another adult man who was also dead from gunshot wounds.
Investigators believe the two victims were shot during an altercation in the walkway of the apartment complex. One man collapsed in front of the building, while the other ran to the jogging path along the bayou before collapsing there, Crowson said.
Homicide investigators are interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance video from the area. Police hope to identify suspects and release descriptions to the public soon.
The investigation is ongoing.
