Sometimes, it’s better to take your hunger into your own hands. Not cooking necessarily, but customizing. Starting this November, you’ll be able to do so at Cubpop. If the name rings a bell, that might because the Korean BBQ concept gained national attention with its successful TV debut on Shark Tank. Now a fast-growing sensation in America, Cubpop has announced two openings in Houston.
Founded by Junghun “Jung” Song, Cubpop is a Korean BBQ-in-a-cup concept in which the food is fun, customizable, and incredibly flavorful. Billed as an experience, Cubpop patrons can customize their bowls with a variety of options: rice, noodles, and cabbage are at hand, alongside proteins, vegetables, and tantalizing sauces. Featured favorites include the Piggy Bop (Korean-style pork), B Bop (bulgogi beef), and Rock Bop (crispy Korean fried chicken).

Song originally launched the concept as a single food truck, before impressing the likes of Mark Cuban on Shark Tank alongside co-founded Dok Kwon. The deal with Cuban subsequently incited an international phenomenon with over hundreds of locations worldwide.
Soon enough, Houston will be able to get a taste of what’s in the cup. Cubpop’s first Houston-area location opens in Pasadena on Friday, November 14, followed by a location in Northwest Houston in mid-December.
For its Pasadena Grand Opening, Cubpop will be hosting a spcial celebration with an on-site DJ, interactive photo-ops, as well as $5.99 bowls all day long. The first 100 attendants in line will also be included in a raffle for the prize of “Free Cubpop for a Year” – awarded to 10 lucky guests.
Those that leave a Google review of Cubpop will also have a chance to spin a prize wheel for the opportunity to win coupons, exclusive merch, and Mixsoon Korean skincare products.

“Houston is one of the fastest growing and most diverse food cities in the U.S. and we’re excited to bring a fresh take on Korean BBQ to the community“, said Karim Haji, CEO/COO of Grafton Way Restaurant Group, the group that operates the Cubpop Houston locations.
Cubpop opens at 5116 Fairmon Parkway in Pasadena on Friday, November 14. Its business hours are 10 am – 9:30 pm. Though the official opening date for its Northwest Houston hasn’t been announced, the outpost will be located at 12620 FM 1960 Rd. W. Suite C-4.
