Huawei is rolling out a new HarmonyOS 5.1 update for the Watch GT 5 smartwatch. Software version 5.1.0.16 is said to bring a range of new features to this wearable, including a voice recorder tool. Plus, there are also improvements for older tools like the alarm and contacts list.

The Huawei Watch GT 5 smartwatch is getting a new major update. Software version 5.1.0.16 (SP2C00M05) is a HarmonyOS 5.1 update for this wearable. It includes many new features, which are also rolling out to the Watch D2 and the Watch Fit 4 Pro.

Update version 5.1.0.16 brings a new star ring design for the home screen, joining the existing grid and list layouts. There are also several new preset watch faces, which can be customized. The watch gains the voice memo feature, which has also arrived for the Watch Fit 4 Pro, allowing you to quickly record voice notes. Plus, there is a new Health Insights app, helping you to uncover trends across metrics like heart rate, stress and sleep. This update also brings a new sleep average HRV measurement, which is said to help users understand their energy levels.

On top of this, these are optimizations for the alarm set-up process, and the number of synced frequently used contacts has been increased to 30. The full release notes for this update can be found on the Huawei Forum. Announced in China, it appears the software version 5.1.0.16 (SP2C00M05) will roll out in this country initially, reaching global users at a later date. When it is available in your region, the update will be downloadable via the Huawei Health app.
