One person died Saturday, Nov. 8, after a small acrobatic plane practicing stunts crashed at Keystone Heights Airport in Bradford County, a Bradford County Fire Rescue spokesperson told Times-Union news partner First Coast News.
As a result of the crash, the spokesperson said a fire broke out and was extinguished.
The Bradford County Sheriff’s Office asked drivers to avoid the area of South Florida 100 near the airport due to the incident.
The Florida Highway Patrol crash report said it happened at 11 a.m. at 7150 Airport Road in Starke. Officials did not release the identity of the person killed, but the report said it was the 46-year-old pilot from St. Augustine. He was the only occupant on board.
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have are investigating the cause.
