As of Thursday over 80% of SE Texas is under drought conditions and some western counties are in extreme drought. With our dry conditions and gusty winds we will have to be extra mindful of the wildfire risk. So even though it’ll feel like perfect fire-pit weather, we have to make a hard pass – gusty conditions, bone-dry land and one ember can spread –FAST!

If you’re headed to the Texans game on Sunday, make sure to secure the tailgate, as the winds will be howling through kickoff! So even though we’re starting in the 60s, that strong cold front -we’ll struggle to hit our high of 70 as cold air takes over.
Sunday Morning
By Monday morning we’re waking up near 40 degrees, which means jackets, sweaters and maybe even a beanie. Feels-like temperatures will drop to 20s and 30s because of the wind robs your body heat fast if you are not properly covered.

This is ahead of a super cold Tuesday morning. We could see a few locations in the Brazos Valley and Piney Woods in the mid-to-lower 30s which means a frost advisory isn’t out of the question. And with those gusty winds both on Monday and Tuesday, those feels-like temps will make it feel even colder.
