The Heard Museum is proud to announce a new exhibition celebrating ballerina, educator and arts advocate Delores Browne Abelson through the lens of her remarkable collection of Native American art. The exhibition features artwork by her close friend and celebrated artist Harry Fonseca (Nisenan Maidu/Portuguese/Native Hawaiian), as well as other contemporary Native artists whose work reflects Abelson’s lifelong passion for the arts. In 1984, Abelson founded October Art, a New York gallery dedicated to showcasing the work of Native artists, many of whom are represented in this collection.
