A driver was rushed to the hospital after their vehicle slammed into a Salvation Army store in East York early Sunday morning, say paramedics.

The incident happened in the Thorncliffe Park neighbourhood, at 60 Overlea Dr., just west of Don Mills Road.

Toronto paramedics said they were called to that area around 2:30 a.m. for reports of a vehicle into a building.

They said they transported one person to a trauma centre in stable condition. His injuries are not serious.

The front of the building, however, was extensively damaged in the incident.

The motorist, a man in his 30s, is facing a number of charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
